Qualcomm Introduces the Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 Chipset
Qualcomm has quietly unveiled its latest mobile platform, the Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 chipset. The “s” in the name indicates a “step-down” model in the lineup, offering a more budget-friendly option for consumers. The new chipset, available in both 4G (SM-6370) and 5G (SM6375-AC) variants, is based on a 6nm TSMC node.
Featuring two CPU clusters with two Cortex A78 cores clocked at up to 2.3 GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores working at up to 2.0 GHz, the Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 aims to deliver reliable performance for everyday tasks. However, some may find it lacking in comparison to its predecessors, such as the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chipset from 2022.
Despite the Snapdragon 6s Gen 3’s Adreno 619 GPU and FastConnect 6200 modem, one notable drawback is its camera ISP’s limitation to 1080p@60fps video capture. This feature may seem outdated in 2024, especially when considering the capabilities of other competing chipsets on the market.
Looking ahead, devices equipped with the Snapdragon 6s Gen 3, such as the upcoming Motorola G85, are expected to debut soon based on recent benchmark leaks. While the new chipset may not offer cutting-edge technology, it aims to provide a cost-effective solution for users seeking reliable performance in their smartphones.
Overall, Qualcomm’s introduction of the Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 chipset adds another option to the ever-growing lineup of mobile processors, catering to varying consumer needs in the competitive tech market.
