Ralph Lauren has once again designed the Team USA Olympic uniforms, this time opting for a classic navy blazer paired with faded jeans and white bucks. This marks the fifth time Ralph Lauren has been the official outfitter for the American Olympic and Paralympic delegation, and the fifth time he has incorporated a navy blazer into the Summer Games attire.
The evolution of the Team USA Olympic uniform over the years has seen different variations of the navy blazer. In 2008, the blazer was single-breasted with white buttons, matching white newsboy caps, and white trousers. In 2012, the blazer was either double- or single-breasted, paired with navy berets, white pants or skirts, and a red, white, and blue scarf for women. By 2016, the blazer returned to a single-breasted style, worn with skinny white jeans and a red, white, and blue striped T-shirt. In the last Summer Games, the navy blazer was styled with sneakers, a blue-and-white striped tee, and dark blue denim pegged-leg jeans.
For the upcoming Summer Olympics, the navy blazer will be single-breasted with red-and-white grosgrain ribbon trim. The shirt will be a blue-and-white striped oxford, the jeans will be faded and relaxed, and the shoes will be white bucks. Men will also have the option of wearing a navy tie to complete the look.
It’s interesting to see how Ralph Lauren has maintained the essence of the Team USA Olympic uniform with the navy blazer while incorporating subtle changes to keep the look fresh and modern. The navy blazer has become a signature piece of the American delegation’s attire, representing a sense of tradition and heritage.
As we eagerly anticipate the Summer Olympics in Paris next month, all eyes will be on Team USA as they proudly don the classic navy blazer, embodying the spirit of the American athletes as they compete on the world stage.
