In the midst of inflation and while retirees are bearing the brunt of galloping inflation, pensions will finally experience a revaluation at the start of 2024. If Bruno Le Maire announced a figure of 5.2% and the revaluation should, in the end, be estimated at 5.3%, many retirees are wondering about the planned increase. What will be the final amount of your pension on January 1, 2024?
As Bruno Le Maire, Minister of the Economy and Finance, stated on September 27, 2023, when announcing the 2024 budget, “retirement pensions will all be increased by 5.2% on January 1, 2024” . However, as notified by our colleagues at MoneyVox, this figure could experience changes since it does not correspond to the regulatory calculation formula developed for the annual revaluation of basic pensions. Indeed, the calculation formula taking into account inflation over two years results in 5.3%. A higher than expected revaluation which was confirmed by the Cnav on its website on Monday December 18.
While doubts have hovered over this revaluation, retirees will be able to benefit from this increase in their retirement pension at a time when their purchasing power is heavily affected by current inflation. In theory, for a basic net pension of 1470 euros per month, this should increase to almost 1548 euros net. Remember that this amount will be visible on the basic pension paid in February, which will allow you to observe this increase of almost 80 euros.
