(Birmingham) Rebecca Marino of Vancouver lost in the quarterfinals at the Rothesay Classic on Friday, losing 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 to Zhu Lin of China.
Marino had 10 aces, but she only hit 52% of her first serves.
In addition, she only earned the point on 36.5% of her second serves.
Zhu had a 5-2 break advantage.
Favorite Barbora Krejcikova won 6-3, 6-2 ahead of Linda Fruhvirtova.
Second-seeded Jelena Ostapenko defeated Magdalena Frech 4-6, 7-5, 6-2.
Marino had won four games in a row.
She and Zhu teamed up in doubles at Roland Garros, but they were beaten in the first round.
Ranked 79th in the world, Marino is one of three Canadians entered at Wimbledon, along with Bianca Andreescu of Mississauga (41st) and Leylah Fernandez of Laval (51st).
Qualifying for the third Grand Slam of the year will begin on Monday.
