(London) Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm’s places with the European Ryder Cup squad were confirmed on Wednesday.
McIlroy will compete in the Ryder Cup for the seventh straight time and Rahm a third. Both have confirmed their place through the European rankings.
The 2023 edition of the Ryder Cup will take place from September 29 to October 1 at the Marco Simone club, on the outskirts of Rome. Captain Luke Donald’s side will be looking to avenge a record loss to the United States last year at Whistling Straits.
McIlroy, 34, currently dominates the European rankings. The Northern Irishman has four major titles to his credit. For his part, Rahm, a 28-year-old Spaniard, won a second major title in April, when he won the Masters Tournament.
In Whistling Straits, the Americans triumphed 19-9, winning by the biggest margin since 1979, when continental Europe was represented at the tournament.
