(San Jose) The San Jose Sharks added depth to their offense on Wednesday, acquiring Ty Dellandrea and Barclay Goodrow.

They first obtained Dellandrea in a trade with the Dallas Stars, sacrificing a fourth-round pick in 2025. That pick originally belonged to the Winnipeg Jets.

The Sharks then claimed Goodrow on waivers. The New York Rangers put him through this process with the goal of buying out his contract if he was passed over.

Dellandrea was limited to two goals and seven assists in 42 games last season with the Stars. He added a goal in six games during the playoffs.

The Stars’ first-round pick in 2018, 13th overall, Dellandrea has just 14 goals and 28 assists in 151 NHL games.

For his part, Goodrow is back with the team that gave him his first chance in the NHL, after being passed over in the draft.

Goodrow spent the first six seasons of his professional career in the Sharks organization, before being traded to the Tampa Bay Lightning during the spring of 2020.

He won the Stanley Cup twice with the Lightning, then signed a lucrative six-year, US$21.85 million contract with the Rangers.

Goodrow had just four goals and eight assists in 80 games with the Rangers last season. His contract is still valid for three seasons.

In 572 NHL games, Goodrow had 60 goals and 109 assists.

The Sharks concluded the last campaign in 32nd and last place in the overall NHL rankings. They have scored 181 goals, just two more than the Chicago Blackhawks and last in the league in this regard.
