Animated Series Trailer Released for Seth Rogen’s ‘Sausage Party: Foodtopia’

Welcome to a world where food items come to life in the upcoming animated series “Sausage Party: Foodtopia,” based on Seth Rogen’s R-rated comedy movie from 2016.

The trailer showcases a revolution led by talking food items who establish their own civilization called Foodtopia. However, their utopian society faces destruction when a flood threatens their existence. Now, they must join forces with humans to ensure the survival of their species.

Scheduled to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on July 11, the eight-episode sequel series was greenlit in October 2022. Co-written by Kyle Hunter and Ariel Shaffir, the show features the original cast members reprising their roles, including Rogen, Kristen Wiig, Michael Cera, David Krumholtz, and Edward Norton. Additionally, new characters will be voiced by Will Forte, Natasha Rothwell, Sam Richardson, and Yassir Lester.

The original “Sausage Party” film, which premiered at SXSW in March 2016, followed the story of anthropomorphic food items in a supermarket. With Rogen voicing the main character, Frank, the film explored themes of fate and the characters’ quest for survival.

Critics have praised Rogen’s unique blend of humor and social commentary, with Variety film critic Joe Leydon describing him as a “subversively sincere religious allegorist” who adds depth to his comedy.

The new series is helmed by showrunners Shaffir and Hunter, with Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and others serving as executive producers. “Sausage Party: Foodtopia” promises to deliver a mix of comedy, action, and thought-provoking themes when it premieres this summer.
