(Seoul) The South Korean army announced Friday that it had fired warning shots after a brief crossing of the border by North Korean soldiers on Thursday, marking the third such incursion in June.

“Several North Korean soldiers who were working inside the demilitarized zone on the central front line crossed the military demarcation line. After warnings and warning shots from our army, North Korean soldiers withdrew to the North,” the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff said, adding that the incident took place around 11 a.m. Thursday ( 10 p.m. Eastern Time).
