(Seattle) Jordan Eberle kicked off a very offensive second period with his fourth goal of the playoffs, Philipp Grubauer made 24 saves and the Seattle Kraken beat the Dallas Stars 7-2 on Sunday night to take a 2-1 lead in the second round of the playoffs.
The Kraken’s first four shots in the second period beat Jake Oettinger, and the Kraken made it 5-1 when Eeli Tolvanen added a goal 37 seconds from the end of the period.
It was the second time in three games in the series that Oettinger allowed five goals after the Stars lost Game 1 5-4 in overtime. Oettinger conceded four goals in the first period of Game 1 and the Kraken became the first team to score five times in a single period in the playoffs.
Twelve different Kraken players scored a point.
Oettinger stopped 12 of 17 shots and was replaced in the third period by substitute Scott Wedgewood. Wedgewood was greeted by a power-play fumble by Kraken and Yanni Gourde’s third goal on Kraken’s first shot in the third period. Justin Schultz added a seventh goal for the Kraken with 2:30 remaining on the power play.
Jani Hakanpää scored her first goal of the playoffs with 13 minutes remaining for the Stars.
The fourth match will take place on Tuesday evening.
