Nevada Restaurants Show Strong Support for Trump, Lack of Harris Backers

In a surprising turn of events, CBS correspondent Adrianna Diaz recently found an overwhelming lack of support for Vice President Kamala Harris during her visit to three different restaurants in Nevada. While touring restaurants in Reno, North Las Vegas, and Pahrump as part of a “3 Meals” segment on “CBS Mornings,” Diaz could only find three people planning to vote for Harris, with the rest expressing their excitement for former President Trump.

Trump Excitement Prevails in Nevada

Despite Nevada traditionally leaning Democratic in presidential elections, the state is currently in a statistical tie between Harris and Trump. This unexpected shift in public opinion was evident during Diaz’s visit to various restaurants, where she struggled to find Harris supporters. In fact, she revealed that out of all the people she approached, only one person in each restaurant expressed support for Harris.

“What was really incredible is, in every single restaurant, of the people willing to talk to us, we could only find one Harris supporter in every restaurant – and we left no stone unturned. I approached every single person, except for this one guy… But people are really excited about Trump,” Diaz shared with the show’s hosts.

Strong Support for Trump in Nevada Restaurants

During her visit to Pahrump, Diaz encountered a married couple, Leanne and Stephen Schaefer, who openly expressed their support for Trump and their concerns for the country. Leanne emphasized the need for a strong leader who commands respect and can handle foreign relations, stating, “I want someone who’s strong, who demands respect and gets the respect and can deal with foreign leaders. I think Trump’s the guy.”

Stephen added to his wife’s sentiments, expressing his fears for the country and his decision to purchase firearms for the first time. “I tell ya, I’ve never owned a gun in my life, and I own four of them now. I fear for our country,” he said.

Another group of women in the restaurant shared their frustrations with the economy, attributing rising prices to the current administration. One woman expressed, “Everything has gone up. Everybody feels it at the grocery store, at the gas pumps. And yes, I do attribute that to Biden.”

Divided Opinions on Immigration and Economy

In Reno, a table of women supporting Trump voiced their concerns about immigration, with one Trump supporter, Debra Canestrini, stating, “Illegals. They got to go.” When questioned about asylum seekers, Canestrini dismissed their claims, saying, “Baloney. They’re coming here for the freebies.”

Tomoko Rogers, another woman at the table, highlighted the distinction between legal and illegal immigration, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing those who have followed the proper procedures. She stated, “When people talk about immigration, they’re thinking we’re saying that we don’t want immigrants of any kind, and that’s not what we are saying.”

On the other hand, Ken Lasker, a Harris supporter in Reno, expressed his concerns about the state of democracy under the current administration. “We’ve had a democracy for 250 years. I think that it’s clearly being threatened now by Trump and the Republican Party,” Lasker shared.

In Las Vegas, voters discussed their opinions on the economy, with Harris supporter Joey Herbert praising the job growth under the current administration. However, Francisco Barres, a taco truck owner, pointed out the rising costs of goods post-pandemic, noting the increase in taco prices due to expensive meat.

In conclusion, the lack of Harris supporters in Nevada restaurants highlights a significant shift in public opinion towards former President Trump. With the state currently in a statistical tie between Harris and Trump, it will be interesting to see how these sentiments impact the upcoming presidential election.
