A suspected drunk driver made a dangerous move on an interstate in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, by driving towards Vice President Kamala Harris’ motorcade. The incident occurred around 8:20 p.m. on I-94 near the Marquette Interchange, as reported by the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office.

The driver, a 55-year-old man, was spotted driving an SUV in the wrong direction on the highway, heading westbound in the eastbound lanes towards Harris’ motorcade. Fortunately, deputies were able to stop the man before he caused any harm to the motorcade or its occupants.

Upon stopping the driver, law enforcement officers determined that he was impaired. The man was taken into custody and is facing recommended charges of operating while intoxicated and recklessly endangering safety, although formal charges have not been filed yet.

Surprisingly, when officers informed the driver that he had almost struck a vehicle in Harris’ motorcade, he claimed to have no memory of entering the freeway or coming close to hitting another vehicle. Additionally, he stated that he had no intention of causing harm to Harris or anyone associated with her campaign.

During the arrest, the man failed multiple field sobriety tests and had an open beer can in his vehicle. As a result, he was detained in jail without bail as of Tuesday night. Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the incident.

The U.S. Secret Service acknowledged the situation and expressed gratitude towards the deputies for their swift response in apprehending the driver. According to Secret Service spokesperson Joe Routh, the agency is thankful to the Milwaukee Sheriff’s Office for their actions, which led to the driver’s arrest for driving under the influence while the Vice President was in her motorcade.

Overall, the incident serves as a reminder of the potential dangers of drunk driving and the importance of law enforcement intervention in preventing accidents and ensuring public safety on the roadways. It also highlights the vigilance and quick thinking of the deputies who were able to avert a potentially hazardous situation involving a high-profile individual like Vice President Kamala Harris.
