Since Thursday, April 13, 2023, the tax return campaign has been accessible. It is therefore possible for you to make your declaration online, in your personal space on the site known to all, impots.gouv.fr. The classic form, in paper format, is also possible. The deadline for submitting this second possibility is Monday May 22, 2023, at midnight. “The postmark being authentic”, recalls the Directorate General of Public Finances (DGFiP). In addition, do not forget to tick certain boxes that are sometimes forgotten during your respective declarations.

In addition to traditional means of payment, payment in cash is possible, as described on the impots.gouv.fr website in the “Other means of payment” tab. The transfer and the check are the two most preferred solutions by taxpayers at the moment of truth. Unfortunately, cash payment is not feasible for income tax.

However, cash payment is possible for some options. Among them, local taxes are part of it (property tax, housing tax, housing tax on second homes or the tax on vacant housing) and even the real estate wealth tax (IFI).

Another non-negligible condition, a payment threshold is part of the conditions for payment in cash. This limit is a maximum of 300 euros according to article 1680 of the General Tax Code (CGI). If you wish to pay your contributions using this solution, you must go to your public finance center or to a tobacconist approved by the DGFiP. If your amount exceeds this threshold of 300 euros, “you must pay by direct debit online, monthly direct debit or direct debit at maturity”, as Bercy indicates.
