(Los Angeles) Taylor Swift has officially scored more “number one” albums on the US charts than any female artist so far – ahead of Barbra Streisand.
Her album Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), released earlier this month, is the third in her extensive re-recording operation of her first six albums, following music director Scooter Braun’s sale of her debut catalog.
The new album has officially debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 – his 12th to reach number one. Barbra Streisand had had 11.
Taylor Swift otherwise equals Drake’s mark, but is just behind Jay-Z, who has scored 14 albums at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. The Beatles have placed 19.
Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) is the best-selling single-week album this year, with 716,000 “equivalent album units,” according to Luminate.
Swift dethroned country singer Morgan Wallen, whose album One Thing at a Time sold 501,000 units in its first week last March.
