A Texas man named Juan Morgan Munoz, 31, who had two previous DWI convictions, was involved in a fatal accident where he struck and killed a pedestrian while drunk in Dallas. Munoz was on probation for a previous DWI at the time of the incident. He has been charged with felony DWI and a collision involving death.
After the accident, Munoz called 911 half an hour later to report the incident and claimed that he was driving to work at a Maaco Auto Body Shop. When he was stopped by the police in the auto shop parking lot, they noticed a hole in the front passenger windshield of his white BMW and an entire arm on the front passenger seat along with blood. Munoz displayed signs of intoxication such as glassy/watery eyes, slurred speech, and a strong smell of alcohol.
Munoz failed a field sobriety test and recorded a .179 on a breathalyzer test, which is more than twice the legal limit. He also admitted to having cocaine in his system. The victim of the accident has not been identified.
In 2018, Munoz pleaded guilty to a DWI charge in New Hampshire and paid a fine. He was also arrested for DWI in Fort Worth last year, pleaded guilty, and was sentenced to 2 years of probation.
This tragic incident highlights the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol and the devastating consequences it can have. It serves as a reminder of the importance of responsible and sober driving to ensure the safety of everyone on the road. Driving while intoxicated not only puts the driver at risk but also endangers the lives of innocent pedestrians and other motorists.
Law enforcement officials are working diligently to hold Munoz accountable for his actions and ensure that justice is served for the victim of this senseless tragedy. It is crucial for drivers to understand the serious implications of driving under the influence and to make responsible choices to prevent such heartbreaking incidents from occurring in the future.
