Record revenue thanks to celebrity power: Stars like George Clooney, Julia Roberts and Barbra Streisand have helped US President Joe Biden generate campaign revenue of at least $28 million.

This was announced by his campaign team at the fundraising gala on Saturday evening (local time) in Los Angeles. Show host Jimmy Kimmel interviewed Biden and former President Barack Obama. Both emphasized that it was important to beat former President Donald Trump in the presidential election in November.

During the more than half-hour conversation, Kimmel asked whether the United States was suffering from amnesia regarding the likely Republican presidential nominee Trump. Biden replied that we need to “remember what it was like” when Trump was president.

Kimmel asked Biden which of his own accomplishments he was most proud of. Biden replied that he believes his administration’s approach to the economy is working. “We have the strongest economy in the world right now,” Biden said. “We’re trying to give regular people a fair chance.”

Obama praised health care, environmental and gun laws and other major initiatives taken under the administration of his former Vice President Biden.

The reported revenue from the fundraiser surpasses that of a March fundraiser for Biden in New York, where host Stephen Colbert interviewed Biden, Obama and former President Bill Clinton, which raised $26 million.
