The Final Five: Cape Cod and Islands High School Softball Rankings 2024
The softball season on the Cape and Islands has come to a close, with Monomoy, Falmouth, Bourne, Upper Cape, and Nantucket making the MIAA state tournament. Despite falling in their first playoff matchups, the future looks bright for softball on the Cape and Islands. Here is the final Cape Cod and Islands softball rankings of the 2024 season.
1. Monomoy (19-2, 1)
Monomoy held onto the top spot in the rankings, with their playoff loss snapping a 16-game win streak. Led by senior AJ Gates, the team had a standout season and will be a force to be reckoned with next year.
2. Falmouth (11-8, 2)
Falmouth co-champions of the Cape and Islands Atlantic Division, bounced back from last season with a strong performance. Freshman Rylin Briggs impressed with a no-hitter and a 19-strikeout game.
3. Bourne (8-13, 3)
Despite a tough start, Bourne turned their season around and made a playoff appearance, coming close to advancing to the next round.
4. Upper Cape (9-10, 5)
Although inconsistent, Upper Cape made the playoffs after missing out last season, showing promise for the future.
5. Nantucket (10-9, NR)
Nantucket finished strong, clinching a playoff spot and showcasing impressive offensive performances.
Honorable Mention: Sturgis (8-11)
Sturgis was the Cape and Islands Lighthouse League champs, led by a talented group of All-Stars.
