Because a 10-year-old child refused to fasten his seatbelt for over an hour, an airplane had to return from the runway to the gate.
On a flight operated by the Colombian airline Latam, a ten-year-old child refused to wear a seatbelt. Despite being asked to do so by the crew and his parents, the child stubbornly refused, as “elcolombiano” reports.
The incident escalated to the point where the captain was forced to leave the runway and return to the gate.
The incident lasted more than an hour until security staff arrived to remove the child and his idle father. “Dear passengers, we have already informed you that we will not be able to start the flight if the regulations are not respected,” a flight attendant explains in a video on Twitter. “Now we are waiting for the passengers who do not comply with the rules to please leave the plane,” she continues.
The reactions of the other passengers to the child’s behavior and the father’s inaction were consistently negative. “Throw her out,” shouted one. Many accused the father of not having his child under control and of not ending the situation.
Just before the situation could become even more unpleasant, security personnel arrived and escorted the child and his father off the plane.
