Tiger Woods has had a tough time at the U.S. Open this year. He missed the cut at Pinehurst No. 2 after going 7-over in his two rounds. This is the first time since 2015 that Woods has missed consecutive major cuts. He missed the final three cuts that year after finishing in a tie for 17th at The Masters.

After finishing 60th at the Masters in April, he also missed the cut at the PGA Championship last month. Since winning the green jacket in 2019, he has not finished inside the top 20 in any major he’s played in, which is a streak of 13 straight majors. This is his longest such streak since his early career struggles in 1995 and 1996.

From 1997 to 2012, Woods never finished outside the top 20 in three consecutive majors, and only did so back-to-back four times. However, in the nine majors between the 2013 PGA Championship and the 2018 U.S. Open, his best finish was a 17th-place tie at Augusta. He did have some success after that with a sixth place at the Open Championship, a second place at the PGA Championship, and a 15th place at The Masters. But since then, he has only had four top 20 finishes in his last 25 majors.

Woods started off the U.S. Open with a birdie but struggled to maintain his momentum and ended up with a 4-over 74 on Thursday. He briefly got inside the cut-line after a birdie on the fourth hole on Friday but ultimately shot a 73, missing the cut.

The 48-year-old golfer has faced challenges in returning to his previous form after a serious injury from a car crash in 2021. He hasn’t made the cut at the U.S. Open since 2019, with his best finishes in recent years being a tie for 21st in 2012 and 2019. Woods has missed the cut five times in that span.

Despite his recent struggles, Woods has had success at Pinehurst No. 2 in the past. He finished third in the 1999 U.S. Open and second in 2005 to Michael Campbell. However, he missed the 2014 tournament at the famous course.

It’s clear that Tiger Woods is facing challenges in his golf career, but his fans are hopeful that he will be able to overcome these obstacles and return to form in future tournaments.
