While the future of Bayern Munich centre-back Niklas Sule seems to be in place, it is still unclear where the Germany international will end up.
Volker Struth was Sule’s agent and he appeared on Sports1 to indicate that his client is well on his way. Struth did not specify where Sule would go next.
Although Sule has been linked with Chelsea FC, Newcastle United FC, FC Barcelona and Real Madrid, it is not surprising that other English clubs are being considered for the big defender.
Based on Struth’s comments, however, it may be safe to at most take Newcastle United out the race:
However, Sule left the door open for when his new goal is announced. Struth said that this decision is up to the new employer. “Niklas made a decision recently and I wouldn’t be surprised if it changes again,” said the agent of the player.
Struth said that the nouveau riche Newcastle was not an option. Struth stated, “I think it would be a problem if the player were to announce in the next few days that Newcastle will be his destination and I’m sitting there explaining that money is not the priority.”
Struth was able to go deeper and discuss how it all ended.
“We never negociated (with Bayern). It was a verbal approach. It was a verbal approach. We spoke and I indicated that the player was looking into whether he wanted to extend his contract. Struth stated that it wasn’t all about the money. (Source: @iMiaSanMia). “A conversation was planned for January. Niklas spent Christmas with family and called me at the time to say that he didn’t want this conversation anymore. This appointment is not for me. It has nothing to do money. I spoke with Hasan Salihamidzic regarding a renewal. This was in autumn last year, six to seven months before his contract ended. Sule already had made a decision and told me that he wanted to do something else.
Christian Falk, Sport Bild’s editor, also shared some details about what may have caused Sule to take a final decision to quit.
Whatever the reason, Sule’s time at Bayern Munich seems to be coming to an abrupt end.
