TorinoFilmLab Unveils Innovative TV Projects for SeriesLab Workshop
In a bid to foster the production of groundbreaking TV shows from around the world, Italy’s TorinoFilmLab has announced the selection of nine projects for its 2024 SeriesLab workshop. These projects, originating from 13 different countries including the United States, Spain, and Belgium, are in the early stages of development and promise to challenge traditional storytelling conventions.
Projects Overview
One of the selected projects, “Accidental Villains” from Egypt and the U.S., explores the cultural and racial dynamics in post-Trump America through the lens of two Egyptian asylum seekers. Meanwhile, “Dear Insects and Other Creepy Stories” from Croatia offers a dark humor anthology set in a suburban building during a scorching heat wave.
Creators and Storylines
Each project comes with a unique storyline and creative team, such as “Death Doula” from Finland, a dark comedy about an enthusiastic death doula who falls in love with a dying client. Additionally, “Ensemble” from The Netherlands follows the lives of six colleague-friends behind the scenes of a perpetual musical.
In conclusion, the diverse range of projects selected for the TorinoFilmLab’s SeriesLab workshop promises to push the boundaries of storytelling and captivate audiences worldwide with their innovative narratives and unique perspectives.
