A tragic incident occurred at Lake Siskiyou near Mount Shasta in Northern California, where a man in his 30s lost his life while swimming with a friend. The Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the man drowned after their boat drifted away, leaving him struggling in the water. Despite efforts to rescue him, the man disappeared under the water before his friend could help.

The search operation began on Wednesday evening at the North Shore boat launch, involving dive teams, K-9 units, and drones from both the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office and the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office. Tragically, the man’s body was recovered the following day, found 49 feet below the surface of the lake.

As of now, the man has not been publicly identified, as authorities are in the process of notifying his family about the heartbreaking incident. The sheriff’s department expressed their appreciation to the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in the search and rescue efforts, along with the dedicated volunteers of the Siskiyou County Search and Rescue Team.
