Quebec triathletes Charles Paquet and Emy Legault will represent Canada at their first Olympic Games, in Paris this summer, along with Manitoban Tyler Mislawchuk.
Legault, 28, particularly stood out in 2022, when she reached the podium four times in the Triathlon Americas Cup in addition to finishing twice among the top 12 on the World Championship Series circuit. The athlete from L’Île-Perrot will be accompanied by his compatriot Charles Paquet, from Port-Cartier, for whom success has been flourishing in recent months. Last May, he achieved his career-best result in the World Triathlon Championship Series, finishing fifth in Yokohama, Japan. Two weeks later, he finished seventh at the Cagliari stage in Italy.
“I’m super honored to represent Canada at the Olympics. It’s a childhood dream come true, I still have difficulty believing it,” said the 26-year-old athlete.
Paquet said the recent Pan American Games allowed him to adequately prepare for the Olympic triathlon events, which will take place from July 30 to August 5.
For Mislawchuk, this will be a third appearance at the Olympic Games. The Winnipeg athlete finished 15th at the Rio Games in 2016 and at the Tokyo Games in 2020.
