Heat, panic and people collapsing – a family from Essen’s holiday in Turkey ended in total chaos.
The passengers told Watson that they were stuck in the plane for over an hour in extreme heat. During that time, the plane had become a single “incubator”.
On TikTok, the family showed the situation on the plane: people with bright red faces, sweating, frantically waving their hands at each other, there are also babies on board. Children are screaming, the atmosphere is very tense.
“We spent eight days on holiday in a hotel in Alanya,” the father of the family, who was travelling with his wife, their baby and their eleven-year-old daughter, told the portal. Then they were supposed to return to Germany, from Antalya to Münster at 8:15 p.m. local time. But flight 4M413 of the airline Mavi Gök did not take off at first.
“We were in there for at least an hour. The people in front of us had been in there even longer,” explains the father. The temperatures in the plane continued to rise. The crew initially gave no explanation for the delay.
After about half an hour, the staff informed the guests that there was a technical defect. Despite rising temperatures, nothing else happened at first.
The plane increasingly became a sauna, and the doors remained closed. Travelers who did not speak Turkish also had problems communicating with the staff, said the father.
The situation became increasingly worse. “People gradually collapsed, some of them ended up lying in the hallways,” the man from Essen explains.
It was not until an hour later that ice was distributed. Later, when “real panic” broke out, people were allowed to get off the plane. However, there was initially just as little information as there was water at the gate.
Some travelers simply took water bottles at the airport, and the police also got involved.
The return flight to Germany took off four hours later than planned and landed in Münster at 3:25 a.m. What remains of the eight-day holiday for the family is a “shock,” as the father describes it. Neither the airline nor the airline have yet responded to a request for comment from “Watson.”
