President-elect Donald Trump took to social media to make a surprising announcement on Saturday. He stated that former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will not be invited to join his new administration. Both Haley and Pompeo had been seen as strong candidates for Trump’s Cabinet.
In his post on Truth Social, Trump mentioned that despite not inviting them to join his administration, he had enjoyed working with them in the past. He thanked them for their service to the country and added a “MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” at the end of his statement.
Haley, who had run against Trump in the Republican primary, has had a mixed history with the president-elect. While she has been both supportive and critical of him in the past, she recently penned an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal in support of his presidential campaign.
Pompeo, on the other hand, has expressed his support for Trump in the past. In a letter signed by over 400 individuals, including Gold Star families and national security officials, Pompeo endorsed Trump for president. The letter criticized the Biden-Harris Administration’s national security policies and highlighted the challenges faced by the country.
Despite reaching out to Haley and Pompeo for comment, Fox News Digital did not receive an immediate response. It remains to be seen what the future holds for these two GOP stalwarts and how they will continue to contribute to the political landscape.
