Falconets to Discover FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Group Opponents
The Nigeria U-20 Women’s team, known as the Falconets, are eagerly anticipating the reveal of their FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup group opponents on Wednesday, June 5, 2024. The draw, scheduled to take place in Bogota, Colombia, will see the 24 qualified teams being divided into six groups of four teams each for the final competition.
Having qualified for every edition of the competition and being runners-up twice in 2010 and 2014, where they lost to Germany, the Falconets have secured a spot in the upcoming tournament set to be held in Colombia from Saturday, August 31 to Sunday, September 22, 2024. Other African countries joining Nigeria in the competition include Ghana, Cameroon, and Morocco.
Among the qualified nations are Argentina, Australia, Austria, Brazil, and other top teams from around the world. The tournament, set to return after Spain emerged as the winner in 2022, will feature an expanded format with 24 teams, as approved by the FIFA Council on October 4.
