A street in Freilassing, Upper Bavaria, is closed off due to an accident. According to the police, a driver does not agree with this – and deliberately drives towards a first responder.
A 34-year-old man deliberately hit a first responder in Freilassing, Upper Bavaria, who was blocking off a road after an accident with a small van. After the car hit the 54-year-old, the first responder held on to the open driver’s window to avoid being hit by the wheels. The 34-year-old continued driving for about 50 meters until an Austrian police officer who happened to be there finally stopped him, police said on Saturday.
The incident happened on Friday. The accident had previously occurred in the Berchtesgadener Land district as follows: A car driver had hit a seven-year-old boy who had ridden a scooter onto the road between two cars. First responders took care of the slightly injured child and blocked off the road to make the work of the rescue workers easier. The 34-year-old “did not agree” with the closure and “deliberately” drove towards the 54-year-old first responder, who had stood on the road to divert traffic.
Police officers took the 34-year-old to the station. He is now being investigated for, among other things, dangerous interference with road traffic. He had to hand over his driving license. According to the police, the first responder was “miraculously only slightly injured.” According to the spokesman, he went to the doctor on his own. The seven-year-old boy was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
