A Night Full of Emotions at the 2024 Lauriers Gala – Gastronomy
At the annual Lauriers de la Gastronomie du Québec, Quebec’s culinary artisans gather to celebrate local talents. This year, participants experienced a night filled with emotions, awards, and flavors. The guests indulged in the famous Starry Meal prepared by previous finalists and winners throughout the ceremony.
The evening kicked off with a lively red carpet hosted by Félipé St-Laurent, known for his colorful personality and as the founder of Ils en Fument du Bon. Many culinary faces like Loounie, Max L’affamé, and Alexandra Diaz graced the event.
Christine Plante and Francis Reddy hosted the Gala, honoring industry leaders such as Tanière3, winning the prestigious Restaurant of the Year award. Among the winners were Fisun Ercan, named Chef of the Year, and other talented individuals like Chloé Ouellet, Gabrielle Hiller-Rivard, François Borderon, Vanya Filipovic, Samuel Lavoie, and Patrice Fortier.
The evening was filled with emotional moments, including the Public’s Choice Award presented to Geneviève Everell, known as Miss Sushi at home, who is battling cancer. Unable to attend in person due to ongoing treatment, she delivered her speech via video conference, expressing her gratitude to the public.
A heartfelt tribute was also paid to Janette Bertrand, a culinary pioneer set to celebrate her 100th birthday next year. Christian Bégin presented her with the 2024 Tribute Laurier, receiving a standing ovation from the crowd.
The night concluded with a festive atmosphere featuring DJ Montana on the turntables. Congratulations to all nominees and winners who continue to elevate Quebec’s gastronomy with heart and creativity.
