(London) Princess Anne, sister of King Charles III, is “doing well,” her husband assured Tuesday after visiting her in hospital where she is recovering from “minor injuries and a concussion” to the head , following an incident allegedly caused by a horse.

“She is doing well,” her husband Tim Laurence told reporters outside the hospital in Bristol, west of England, where Anne has been treated since Sunday evening. “She’s recovering well,” he added.

In a short statement, Buckingham Palace announced Monday that the 73-year-old princess, very popular in England, suffered “minor injuries and concussion after an incident at Gatcombe Park yesterday [Sunday] evening.”

Gatcombe Park is his country home in the southwest of England.

The incident was apparently caused by a horse.

The princess’s engagements scheduled for this week have been canceled.

The daughter of the late Queen Elizabeth II was originally scheduled to attend a banquet Tuesday evening at Buckingham to mark the state visit of Japan’s Emperor Naruhito and his wife Empress Masako.

Anne also had to cancel a trip to Canada, planned for the end of the week.

The Princess Royal, as she is called in her country, is a top rider, and has even represented her country at the Olympic Games. She is the most active member of the royal family, with hundreds of engagements a year.

Anne had two children – Peter and Zara – from her first marriage to equestrian Mark Philipps. After their divorce in 1992, she married Commander Timothy Laurence, a former equerry to Queen Elizabeth, nine months later.
