(New York) At 77, the absolute queen of country music Dolly Parton has lost none of her aura, her latest album topping the charts in the United States.
Released on November 17, the opus Rockstar, the singer’s 49th solo studio album, slipped to first place on the country charts and those dedicated to rock and alternative music in Billboard magazine.
With original songs and covers of rock classics, Rockstar also shot straight to third place on the Billboard 200 chart, which covers all musical genres, behind rapper Drake and popstar Taylor Swift.
This is Dolly Parton’s best performance on this specific ranking, according to the specialized site.
The country star was inspired by his 2022 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the American pantheon of rock and popular music.
At the time, Dolly Parton explained that she had initially refused this honor, not considering herself a rocker.
During the ceremony, the singer, dressed in a leather jacket and electric guitar encrusted with crystals in her hand, however announced her intention to make a rock album.
Rockstar contains 30 songs, including some recorded with stars like Sting, Stevie Nicks, Joan Jett and Debbie Harry.
