A father is travelling with his son to the 2024 European Championships in Germany. In a curious email, the Scot informs his child’s school – and tells them when they can expect his return.
The European Football Championship is just around the corner. Ian Meiklejohn doesn’t want to miss it – and neither does his son Aleks. The Scots are therefore travelling to Germany especially for the occasion. In a curious email, the father informs his child’s school about his absence during the 2024 European Championship in Germany.
On X, Ian shared the message announcing Aleks’ absence. Over 22,400 people liked the post. The email reads: “Hi, I’m just writing to let you know that Aleks Meiklejohn will be absent from school from Thursday 13 June until Scotland’s elimination from Euro 2024.”
Ian continued: “We will be taking an educational tour of Germany and visiting several cities where we will study the extreme emotional highs and lows that only a Scotland fan goes through. I will make sure Aleks writes a detailed report when he returns.”
It is therefore up to the Scottish national team when Aleks will walk through the doors of his school again. This Friday, June 14th, it is the team’s turn. The game against the German team in Munich starts at 9 p.m. The two countries are in Group A. Hungary and Switzerland are also represented there.
The last UEFA European Championship took place in Germany in 1988, writes “uefa.com”. The tournament starts on June 14th. The final will take place on July 14th. The group phase lasts until June 26th. The knockout phase starts on June 29th. The games will be played in ten stadiums.
