Melissa Noble has been to over 40 countries, as she writes on “ Business Insider .” During her travels, she discovered that the countries she liked best “aren’t necessarily the typical tourist hotspots.” Now she has presented five underrated destinations.
Melissa’s first recommendation is Colombia. She was there with her husband. The woman raves about, among other things, the warm people and the lush landscapes. The highlight was the city of Cartagena. “We spent countless hours strolling through the streets, admiring the colorful colonial facades and taking in the Caribbean flair,” she writes on “Business Insider.”

She also mentions Malta as an underestimated destination. She and her husband strolled through the streets and admired the fortifications, churches and baroque architecture, according to “Business Insider”. She describes the Blue Grotto as “breathtaking”. According to “Malta uncovered”, this is a complex of seven caves. Fourth in Melissa’s list is Zimbabwe. For example, she was at Victoria Falls.
Morocco is also on her list. “There was so much to see,” she reports and writes, among other things, about donkeys that roamed the streets. They also visited a Berber camp in the Sahara and went camel trekking. According to the Federal Agency for Civic Education, Berber is a name “for population groups primarily based in North Africa”. Their settlement areas extend “from the Siwa oasis in Egypt across the Atlantic coast to the Niger Arc”.
The New York Times also dealt with the topic of vacation and compiled travel destinations for 2024 in the “52 Places to Go” list. A German city was also mentioned: Dresden.
