(Vancouver) Forward Teddy Blueger agreed to a two-year contract with the Vancouver Canucks on Wednesday.
The deal has an average annual value of US$1.8 million.
The 29-year-old Latvian could have become an unrestricted free agent on Monday.
Blueger tied a career high with 28 points last season, including six goals. He appeared in 68 games during the regular season.
He added two assists during the playoffs in 13 games.
Blueger signed a one-year deal with the Canucks last July after helping the Vegas Golden Knights win the Stanley Cup.
Blueger was drafted in the second round in 2012 by the Pittsburgh Penguins, with whom he played just over four seasons.
In 336 games in the National League, he had 41 goals and 126 points.
