A quick manhunt in connection with a crime outside of Cologne. According to the police, the 29-year-old man is strongly suspected of having critically injured a 42-year-old in Langenfeld with a knife on the night of Tuesday. The police are investigating an attempted murder.

According to the current status of the investigation, a fight broke out between the victim and the perpetrator at the “Winkelsweg” bus stop in Langenfeld at around 1:20 a.m. The background and trigger of the strike are still unclear. The police initially investigated an unknown person and launched a manhunt.

During the argument, the perpetrator is said to have stabbed the 42-year-old several times. He then fled the scene.

“Based on the current status of the investigation, the police are assuming that this was a crime of passion,” said a spokesman for the Mettmann police. On the orders of the public prosecutor, the 29-year-old is to be brought before a judge on Wednesday (June 19).

Shortly after the incident, witnesses who happened to be passing by looked after the man in Langenfeld who had been critically injured until the ambulance arrived on the scene. From there, the victim was immediately taken to a hospital.

And there is now good news from there: The victim is no longer in danger of dying. According to the police’s current findings, his condition is stable.

At least the 29-year-old will apparently not have to answer for murder or manslaughter. The investigation and the subsequent criminal proceedings will show what legal consequences await him.
