(Kyiv) At least eight people were killed and 21 injured Wednesday in a Russian strike on Kryvyi Rig, the hometown of President Volodymr Zelensky, who has urged the West to deliver more anti-aircraft systems.

“The death toll stands at 8 people. At least 21 people were injured, including two children. Four more people are missing,” Ukrainian Interior Minister Igor Klymenko reported on Telegram.

Mr. Zelensky published a video taken by rescuers at the scene, showing them searching the still smoking debris of a building in search of survivors.

The president once again called on Ukraine’s Western allies to deliver new air defense systems to ward off Russian attacks.

“Modern air defense systems can provide maximum protection for people, our cities and our positions. We need it as much as possible,” Zelensky added.

The Ukrainian president insisted on this request on Tuesday during a trip to Berlin.

Ukraine was targeted during the night from Tuesday to Wednesday by a new barrage of Russian missiles and drones which notably targeted the capital Kyiv, almost all of which were intercepted by anti-aircraft defense, according to the authorities.
