This Monday, July 10, 2023, the heat remains relevant and it is a summer day that promises to be over most of the country. In the morning, the sky is mostly clear and the weather is dry. Gray weather is expected in the central-eastern regions, from Alsace to Franche-Comté, following the storms the day before, reports La Chaine Météo. A few locally thundery showers are expected before fading quickly. Temperatures are between 13 and 25°C from north to south.
At the end of the morning, the low clouds covering the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and the plains of the South-West are reabsorbed although some small showers remain locally possible. According to Météo France, the risk of storms is diminishing. The sun then made its big comeback over the whole country as well as in Corsica throughout the day, announcing a very hot afternoon.
The heat becomes suffocating in the afternoon in certain regions with strong sunshine all over France. According to La Chaine Météo, temperatures reach 40°C near Montélimar, 39°C in Lyon and 37°C in Montpelier. Everywhere else, the mercury is on average around 30°C, with 31°C in Paris, 35°C in Strasbourg and 33°C in Bordeaux. Around the Channel coasts, the return of Breton cloud cover is limiting the rise in heat with 25 to 28°C from the Gulf of Morbihan towards the Basque Coast. According to Météo France, in western Brittany, the increasingly cloudy sky announces the arrival of a new deterioration overnight from Monday to Tuesday which will extend to the Channel coasts.
