As the German Insurance Association announced in Berlin on Friday, the damage is around ten times as high as the Whitsun floods in Saarland and Rhineland-Palatinate. Since the floods have not yet receded, particularly on the Danube, the estimate still contains a certain degree of uncertainty, it said.

Friday, June 7, 8:06 a.m.: After the storms of the past week, there may be isolated thunderstorms and heavy rain in southern Bavaria on Friday evening. The German Weather Service (DWD) is expecting up to 20 liters of rain per square meter in a short time. There may also be gusts of wind with speeds of up to 90 kilometers per hour. There may also be isolated heavy rain in the south and center of Bavaria on Saturday, the weather service said.

According to a DWD meteorologist on Thursday, the renewed rainfall will not reach the amounts of last week. Nevertheless, the already swollen waters and the wet ground could again pose considerable dangers, including to life and limb.

The flood situation between Kelheim and Passau was still tense, especially in Regensburg. The Swabian and Upper Bavarian flood-affected districts are also still struggling with the aftermath. According to the Interior Ministry, three people are still missing.
