Summer is already well underway. We spend our year waiting for it, and when it is finally here, it goes too fast. In terms of weather, it is often the most pleasant time of the year: the days are long, sunnier and warmer.
It is also the season of storms, heat waves and sunburn. Keeping an eye on the weather, and protecting yourself in all circumstances therefore remains essential in summer, even if you only dream of lazing around!
In general, the average seasonal temperature throughout France from June to August is 19.9°C, indicates Météo France. With, in recent years, a clear trend towards warming. The five hottest summers since 1900 all happened less than 20 years ago: it was in 2003, then in 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2019.
This first month of summer was very hot, and dry with a heat wave that is currently hitting the country. Even if the month of August should be hot too, but this heat should be less intense than in July, according to La Chaîne Météo. We can also expect a few thunderstorms. Precipitation which will however be welcome, in the face of the risk of drought, or even heat stroke.
The good news is that the summer of 2022 promises to be less disrupted and less “changing” than last year, continues the site. However, it will not be “as hot and as dry as the 2015-2019 series which marked our country with a succession of remarkable heat waves”.

The first week of the month could be very hot: according to the site, there is a 31% chance that the mercury will rise to 29°C. However, the risk of showers remains almost as present (28% probability).
For the second week of August, the weather will be slightly more mixed, with sunshine but sometimes a few clouds, and a maximum of 22°C. Here too, the risk of showers awaits.
From August 15, we will find beautiful summer weather: temperatures could even rise to 27°C, and the wind will weaken significantly.
It will be necessary to take advantage of it, because at the end of August, the most probable scenario (37%) reports showers and a certain drop in temperatures, with a maximum of 20°C.
