Canadian Trio from WFC2 Selected for Canada’s U-20 Squad for Concacaf Championship
VANCOUVER, BC – Three talented players from Whitecaps FC 2 (WFC2) have been chosen to represent Canada in the upcoming 2024 Concacaf U-20 Championship. Defender Immanuel Mathe, midfielder Jeevan Badwal, and forward Myles Morgan will join Canada’s U-20 squad for a June training camp in La Calera, Chile to prepare for the tournament, which will be held from July 19 to August 4 in Mexico.
In addition to the training camp, Canada will play friendly matches against Chile, Ecuador, and Paraguay on June 19, 21, and 23 respectively. The team has been placed in Group B for the tournament, along with Honduras, Dominican Republic, and El Salvador. The top two teams from each group, as well as the two best third-placed teams, will advance to the quarterfinals.
The knockout stage of the competition will begin on July 30, with the final scheduled for August 4. The four semifinalists will also secure their spots in the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup.
Canada’s U-20 team will kick off their group stage campaign against Honduras on July 20, followed by matches against Dominican Republic on July 23 and El Salvador on July 26 at Estadio Sergio León Chávez in Irapuato, Mexico. With talented players like Mathe, Badwal, and Morgan in the squad, Canada will be looking to make a strong impression in the tournament and secure a spot in the knockout stages.
