Wildermyth Developers Enter Hibernation, No Plans for Sequel or New Project
The team behind the popular turn-based tactical RPG, Wildermyth, has announced that they are going into hibernation with no plans for a sequel or new project in the works.
After the release of the latest DLC, Omenroad, which transformed the game into a roguelike, Worldwalker Games revealed that active development on Wildermyth has come to an end. While they will continue to provide support and address critical bugs, players should not expect any new content moving forward.
In a statement, studio co-owner Nate Austin explained that the decision to go into hibernation was not due to the performance of Omenroad, which has been successful. Instead, the team feels that they have completed their work on the project and are ready for a break.
Despite the hiatus, Austin hinted that this may not be the end of Worldwalker Games altogether. He expressed optimism about finding a new project to work on in the future, emphasizing the team’s passion for game development.
While there are no immediate plans for a Wildermyth sequel, Austin mentioned that they are open to exploring new opportunities after dedicating 11 years to the original game. The team’s journey in game development has been a long and rewarding one, as revealed in a previous interview conducted in 2022.
As Worldwalker Games enters a period of hibernation, fans of Wildermyth can still enjoy the existing game while looking forward to potential future projects from the talented team.
