14 people were injured in a head-on collision between a car and a bus in Wismar (Northwest Mecklenburg district), the driver critically and his passenger seriously.
The 35-year-old drove his car into oncoming traffic on Saturday for reasons initially unknown and collided head-on with the bus, police said on Sunday.
A rescue helicopter took the critically injured driver to a hospital. His seriously injured 31-year-old passenger and the slightly injured 35-year-old bus driver were also taken to a hospital, according to police. Three passengers on the bus were also seriously injured and eight slightly injured, it was reported.
Because the police could not rule out that the driver was under the influence of drugs, a blood sample was taken and his driver’s license was confiscated. The road was closed for around five hours.
