The 2024 WNBA All-Star Game rosters have been announced, and there are a couple of exciting rookies making their debut in the showcase event. Caitlin Clark, the No. 1 pick by the Indiana Fever in this year’s draft, received the most fan votes and is leading all first-year players in scoring, assists, and 3-pointers made. Angel Reese, the No. 7 pick to the Chicago Sky, was named Rookie of the Month for June and set a record for consecutive double-doubles in a season.

The All-Star Game will feature Team USA against Team WNBA, with the 12 members of the U.S. Olympic team automatically granted spots in the game. Diana Taurasi and Brittney Griner will be making their 11th and 10th All-Star Game appearances, respectively. The initial selection of the All-Stars was a combination of fan voting, media panel votes, and player votes, with coaches filling out the rest of the roster.

The Fever franchise is the most represented on Team WNBA, with three players making the roster. Along with Clark, Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell will also be representing the Fever in the game. Boston finished second in the fan vote and was automatically named to the team, while Mitchell is appearing in her second consecutive All-Star Game.

Returning All-Star players include Kayla McBride from the Minnesota Lynx and Dearica Hamby from the Los Angeles Sparks. McBride, who last played in the All-Star Game in 2019, is having a standout season as the Lynx’s second-leading scorer. Hamby, making her third All-Star appearance, leads the Sparks in scoring and rebounding and will also be competing in the Paris Olympics with Team USA’s 3×3 team.

While the rosters are filled with talented players, there were a few notable snubs, including Ezi Magbegor from the Seattle Storm, Alanna Smith from the Minnesota Lynx, and Betnijah Laney-Hamilton from the New York Liberty. Magbegor leads the league in total blocks and is a strong defensive presence, Smith anchors a top-rated Lynx defense, and Laney-Hamilton leads in net rating among players who have appeared in more than five games.

Overall, the 2024 WNBA All-Star Game promises to be an exciting matchup between Team USA and Team WNBA, showcasing the best talent in the league. With rookies like Clark and Reese making their debuts alongside seasoned veterans like Taurasi and Griner, fans can expect a thrilling contest on July 20 in Phoenix.
