German investigators say they have succeeded in dealing the biggest blow to date against the cocaine trade in Germany.
As the Stuttgart Customs Investigation Office and the Düsseldorf Public Prosecutor’s Office announced on Friday, “dozens of tons of cocaine worth several billion euros were taken out of circulation.” Searches were carried out in seven federal states and seven arrest warrants were executed.
According to the information, operations took place in Bonn, Cologne, Leverkusen, the Rhein-Sieg district and Wachtberg in North Rhine-Westphalia, in the Bavarian capital Munich, in Berlin and Hamburg, in the Brandenburg district of Märkisch-Oderland, in the Heidekreis district in Lower Saxony and in Frankfurt am Main in Hesse. The authorities plan to provide details of the investigations at a press conference in Düsseldorf on Monday.
