Cavan Sullivan, a 14-year-old soccer player, made history by becoming the youngest player to debut in all major North American professional sports leagues. He achieved this milestone when he subbed in for the Philadelphia Union during a match against the New England Revolution. This remarkable accomplishment was not just for show, as Sullivan has long been recognized as a talented soccer prospect. In fact, he signed the largest homegrown contract in MLS history on May 9, which will eventually lead to a transfer to Manchester City in the English Premier League when he turns 18.

Sullivan’s debut at such a young age surpassed the previous record held by Freddy Adu, who debuted for D.C. United at the age of 14 years and 306 days. While Adu remains the youngest player to step on the field for the United States men’s national team, there are high hopes that Sullivan may break that record as well in the future.

During the match against the Revolution, Sullivan’s older brother, Quinn, who also plays for the Union, scored a goal in the 84th minute. Although Cavan did not have many opportunities to score in the game, he did take a shot towards goal towards the end of the second half.

In an interview, Sullivan expressed his focus on his individual journey and emphasized that everyone has their own path to success. Signing with the Union was a dream come true for Sullivan, considering it is his hometown team and playing alongside his older brother made the decision even easier. The opportunity to eventually join Manchester City further solidified his commitment to pursuing a successful soccer career.

While the expectations are high for Sullivan at such a young age, this milestone in his career has already made history. Moving forward, Sullivan will continue to strive for more achievements in the years to come as he embarks on what many anticipate to be a promising soccer career.
