Arizona Lithium has received approval from the US Bureau of Land Management (BLM) for their Big Sandy Lithium Project in Arizona. This permit allows the company to start a drilling and bulk sampling program at the site. The program is set to begin in July 2024 and will be managed by Navajo Transitional Energy Company (NTEC) under a mining services agreement.
The drilling program will involve 131 drill holes and a bulk sample to expand the current lithium resource at the Big Sandy Project. Only 4% of the project area has been drilled so far, indicating a significant opportunity for further resource expansion. The goal of the upcoming drilling program is to test the validity of the exploration target.
Managing director of Arizona Lithium, Paul Lloyd, expressed his excitement about the approval from BLM for the drill program. He highlighted the potential for development at the Big Sandy Project, which currently has a JORC resource of 320,800 tonnes LCE5. Lloyd emphasized the company’s commitment to expanding the existing resource and validating the exploration target while ensuring minimal environmental impact.
Situated between Phoenix and Las Vegas, the Big Sandy Lithium Project features a flat-lying, sedimentary-hosted lithium resource across approximately 25km² of land. The project comprises 300 BLM claims, offering a promising area for lithium exploration and development.
The approval from BLM marks a significant milestone for Arizona Lithium as they move forward with their exploration activities at the Big Sandy Project.
