Ayla McDowell, a talented basketball player from Cypress, Texas, has committed to joining the South Carolina Gamecocks under the leadership of head coach Dawn Staley. With four years of eligibility starting in the 2025-26 academic year, McDowell brings a unique set of skills to the team.

Her contributions helped lead the team to a 30-3 record and a spot in the 6A regional semifinals. McDowell also represented Brazil in the 2024 FIBA U18 Women’s AmeriCup, where she led her team in scoring with 14.8 points per game, the second-highest average in the tournament, and ranked second in rebounding with 7.7 boards per game. In a game against the U.S., McDowell put up 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds.
