Disney+ Announces New Series “Becoming Karl Lagerfeld” Starring Daniel Brühl
In an exciting new venture, Disney+ is set to launch a series dedicated to the legendary fashion icon Karl Lagerfeld. Titled “Becoming Karl Lagerfeld,” the show will feature actor Daniel Brühl stepping into the iconic designer’s shoes. Set to debut in early June, the series promises to delve into Lagerfeld’s fascinating journey through the world of haute couture.
Following the success of the series featuring Cristóbal Balenciaga, Disney+ is gearing up to showcase the life and times of Karl Lagerfeld in a six-episode event. From friendships to rivalries, betrayals, and passions, viewers will be transported back to the 1970s to witness the captivating story of the fashion maverick.
Adapted from the best-selling book “Kaiser Karl” by Raphaëlle Bacqué, the series kicks off in 1972 when Lagerfeld, then 38 years old, was still a relatively unknown ready-to-wear stylist. As he crosses paths with the enigmatic Jacques de Bascher, a young and ambitious dandy who captures Lagerfeld’s heart, the series will explore his daring confrontation with the esteemed Yves Saint Laurent, supported by the formidable businessman Pierre Bergé.
Starring alongside Daniel Brühl is a talented cast including Théodore Pellerin as Jacques de Bascher, Arnaud Valois as Yves Saint Laurent, and Alex Lutz as Pierre Bergé. Agnès Jaoui takes on the role of Gabrielle Aghion, the founder of Chloe.
For fans eager to catch “Becoming Karl Lagerfeld,” the series will be available for streaming exclusively on Disney+ starting Friday, June 7th. Don’t miss out on this captivating journey into the world of one of fashion’s most iconic figures.
