A man who disappeared over 20 years ago in California is reuniting with his family after his sister saw his picture in a USA Today article this year. The Lassen County Sheriff’s Office shared this heartwarming news on Facebook after receiving a call from the woman who believed the man in the article was her long-lost brother. The family had been searching for him since August of 1999 when he vanished without a trace.
The man, who was nonverbal, had been admitted to a hospital in the Los Angeles area. His sister, Marcella (Marcie) Nasseri, was overjoyed when she found out that the man in the hospital was indeed her missing brother. Through fingerprints, a match was confirmed, and Nasseri expressed her happiness at finding him alive after so many years of searching for unidentified remains.
Nasseri is currently located 600 miles away from her brother in Lynwood, California, and is seeking assistance to help him until a medical transfer is possible. She mentioned that her brother has just learned to walk again, can eat regular food, and is non-verbal. She is sending him used men’s clothing, pencils, and a scratch pad because he enjoyed drawing. The family is in need of financial support for his care and other necessities.
The Lassen County Sheriff’s Office praised Deputy Kennemore for his dedication in identifying the missing man and thanked the Los Angeles Police Department for their help in closing this decades-old case. The sheriff’s office highlighted the importance of teamwork and perseverance in bringing closure to this long-standing mystery.
The heartwarming reunion of this long-lost family member serves as a reminder of the power of hope and perseverance. Despite years of uncertainty and searching, the family has finally found their missing loved one, bringing them a sense of relief and joy. The support and assistance provided by law enforcement agencies and the community have played a crucial role in reuniting this family after a quarter of a century.
