Los Angeles Sparks newcomer Cameron Brink had to leave the game on Tuesday night due to a knee injury while playing against the Connecticut Sun. Brink was driving to the basket in the first quarter when she slipped and hurt her knee. She had to be assisted off the court and taken to the locker room for further evaluation.

After the game, Sparks head coach Curt Miller mentioned that Brink has a knee injury and will be assessed the next day. Brink’s time on the court was limited to only four minutes before she had to exit the game. Unfortunately, Los Angeles Sparks lost to Connecticut 79-70.

Brink, who was the second overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, has been performing well with an average of 8.1 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks per game. She was even tied with A’ja Wilson from the Las Vegas Aces for the second-most blocks in the league. Additionally, Brink was selected to represent the 3×3 U.S. Olympic team for Paris.

Coach Miller expressed his frustration about losing a starter to injury almost every season since 2019 but emphasized the importance of having the next player step up and the team rallying together. Despite the setback, the Sparks are currently 4-11 for the season.

During the game, Aari McDonald led the Sparks with 14 points and seven assists, but each Sun starter scored in double figures, with DeWanna Bonner contributing 16 points and seven rebounds to Connecticut’s victory.

It’s always tough to see players get injured, especially promising rookies like Brink. The Sparks will need to regroup and adjust to her absence on the court. We wish Cameron Brink a speedy recovery and hope to see her back in action soon. Stay tuned for more updates on the Sparks and the WNBA season.
