Clemson is eagerly awaiting the return of receiver Bryant Wesco for their upcoming game against Louisville, following his absence in the last two games due to an ankle injury. Coach Dabo Swinney provided an update on Wesco’s recovery progress during a recent media session.
Swinney mentioned that Wesco has been practicing to some extent, although not as much as desired. The team is gradually increasing his workload while respecting his pace of recovery. The coach emphasized the importance of the practices leading up to the game and expressed optimism about Wesco’s progress.
Despite initial progress, it seems that Wesco may not have responded as well as hoped during practice. His availability for the upcoming game remains uncertain, and his status will be closely monitored.
In the current season, Wesco has been a significant contributor to the team, with 11 receptions for 262 yards and two touchdowns in five games. He ranks second on the team in receiving yards per game, highlighting his impact on the field.
On the other hand, Tyler Brown, a sophomore receiver who led Clemson in receiving last year, has faced challenges this season due to injuries. Brown is recovering from surgery and is still considered “week-to-week” by Swinney. He will not be available for the Louisville game, but the coach noted Brown’s notable progress in his recovery journey.
Brown underwent tightrope surgery and has been gradually improving, transitioning from mobility aids to walking unassisted. Swinney expressed confidence in Brown’s recovery trajectory, indicating positive signs despite his current unavailability for game participation.
As Clemson prepares for the upcoming matchup, the team is managing the recovery timelines of key players like Wesco and Brown, aiming to optimize their return to full strength. The coaching staff remains hopeful about the progress made by both receivers and looks forward to their contributions on the field in the near future.
