A high-speed police chase in Los Angeles was captured on video, culminating in a dramatic crash. The footage, taken by a helicopter from Fox 11 Los Angeles, showed a vehicle speeding through city streets at over 80 mph before colliding with an SUV at an intersection in the Koreatown neighborhood. The SUV spun around and came to a stop against a building, while the pursued vehicle hit a tree after the crash. Following the collision, an individual from the vehicle fled on foot towards a residential building.
Up to three individuals allegedly involved in the chase were later apprehended by the police. According to Fox 11 Los Angeles, the chase was initiated following an armed robbery incident. Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Sgt. Luis Zamorano mentioned, “They were approached while they were in their vehicle or outside their vehicle. The suspect pointed some kind of firearm at them and took some of their belongings. I think it was like a purse or wallet and possibly a cell phone.”
It was reported that the vehicle used in the chase was suspected to be stolen. Additionally, law enforcement recovered a rifle at the crash site, as per Fox 11 Los Angeles.
